Field of Application
The electrician face shield ErgoS 2plus together with a dedicated hard hat (according to EN 50365 or EN 397) permits the user to work at live parts or in the vicinity of live parts.
Because of its high arc protection level against thermal hazards the face shield can be used at electrical installations with higher short-circuit energy up to WLBP = 318 kJ according to risk assessment pursuant German DGUV-I 203-077 or according the guidelines IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E.
ATPV: 34.0 cal/cm², Double Layer Fabric 7.8 oz/yd², Arc Protection Balaclava
Features:
- For wearing under face shields
- For a higher arc flash protection of the head (360 degree protection)
- Double layer fabric: 7.8 oz/yd²
- Univeral-size
- Color: Dark blue
Field of application
The balaclava is in combination with an arc protection face shield part of personnel protective equipment to protect against the thermal hazards of an electric arc. Wearing the Balaclava under other types of face shield increases the head protection by providing 360 degree protection of head. When combining Balaclava and face shield always the lower arc rating of the individual products determines the protection level of the combination

The ATPV rating has been certified with and without BSD Balaclava: 34.0 cal/cm².
An arc flash is when electricity jumps and makes a big spark with a lot of heat and light. It happens when something goes wrong in an electrical system.
Benefits of Arc Flash Products
Protection from Burns: Arc flash incidents can generate temperatures hotter than the sun's surface. Using appropriate arc flash PPE can protect the wearer from severe burns.
Reduction of Fatalities: Proper use of arc flash PPE can reduce the chances of fatal injuries from arc flash incidents.
Protection from Secondary Injuries: The pressure wave from an arc flash can knock workers off their feet. Helmets and other PPE can protect workers from head injuries or other secondary injuries resulting from falls.
Prevent Blindness: The intense light from an arc flash can cause temporary or permanent blindness. Face shields and safety glasses are designed to shield the eyes from this extreme brightness.
Electrical Shock Prevention: Insulated tools and gloves reduce the risk of electrical shock when working on or near energized equipment.
Compliance with Safety Standards: Using arc flash products ensures compliance with safety regulations and standards, such as NFPA 70E in the U.S.
Enhanced Productivity: When workers are confident in their safety equipment, they can focus better on their tasks, leading to increased productivity and efficiency.
Liability Reduction: By following safety standards and ensuring workers are adequately protected, companies can reduce their liability in the event of an incident.
Awareness and Education: Arc flash warning labels and training materials educate workers about potential hazards, fostering a culture of safety.
Equipment Protection: Arc-resistant switchgear and other preventive measures can minimize damage to expensive equipment during an arc flash incident.
Cost Savings: While there is an initial investment in arc flash products, they can lead to long-term savings by preventing costly incidents, reducing equipment downtime, and avoiding potential legal liabilities.
Reputation Management: Organizations that prioritize the safety of their workers through the use of arc flash products enhance their reputation as responsible and safety-conscious employers.
